I'm passionate about helping people figure out how to do what they love.
To those who are not quite at the “I LOVE what I do everyday” point in life, the idea of getting there can feel entirely overwhelming. Some familiar thoughts and questions may sound like, “I don’t even know what I want,” or “how do I get from where I am right now to where I want to be?”
Happiness, purpose, and passion can feel out of reach and difficult to pin down.
Do you want to know something? You are not the only one who feels this way. In fact, the majority of people are thinking these exact same thought and asking these same questions.
But you know what? It’s entirely okay to not know exactly what you want, where you are going, or how to get there quite yet. It’s a normal part of the human experience and stressing yourself out by trying to find the true and ultimate answer isn’t going to help you get there.
I'm working on a book to help people figure out what it means to do what they love, and I've interviewed some amazing people to get inspiration that I can share with you.
I sat down to speak with Daphne Maxwell Reid, a fiery and passionately creative woman best know for her role as Aunt Viv in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Daphne loves what she does everyday, but she also helped me see that the path isn’t always clear...and that’s okay!
Daphne shared her journey with me in an interview for my upcoming book, Do What You Love, and dropped this powerful bit of wisdom which I just HAD to share...life is all about experiences and learning to assemble your own passion toolbox.
She explained, "Learn something from EVERY experience, good, bad, or indifferent, because they are all part of your tool box. And you are going to need that for the completion of your journey."
Daphne’s message of positivity, perseverance, and flexibility really spoke to me. And encouraged me to share this idea with you all. You don’t need to have it all figured out! As Daphne explains, "People don’t understand that starting on a journey of discovery is a simple thing...you just put one foot in front of the other. And when you fall down, you get up."
Now, that is something that I think each of us can manage: Just take one step.
Put one front in front of the other, get out there, be open to experiences, learn, and get back up when you fall down.
Life is all about assembling your very own passion toolbox from your experiences which you can (and will!) use to discover your purpose, create your goals, and formulate an actionable plan to reach them so you too can do what you love everyday.
