Finding What Feels Good - Winning and Learning with Vanky Kenny Kataria

Today I wanted to chat about another amazing individual I have had the pleasure of connecting with recently and some of the inspiring ideas he shared with me.

An essential part of being able to “Do What You Love” is knowing what it is that you truly enjoy. Identifying what it is that brings you joy beyond all else is sometimes the biggest challenge of all.

I was able to sit down and have an invigorating conversation with a man who has successfully broken through this confusion and emerged to find something that brings him true joy everyday...Vanky Kenny Kataria. He was kind enough to share some thoughtful insight as to how we can all do the same.

Vanky is a public speaker and visiting professor who never thought that speaking to large groups would be his passion. When I asked him how he discovered what it is that he loves and why he loves it he simply said, “Why do I love it? It just feels right. It just makes me feel good.” He said he didn’t know he loved speaking until he tried it and urges others to, “try many different things. Who knows what that one thing may be for you...until you try and find it.”

The bottom line: sometimes finding what you love is not a straight or easy path. It can be messy, it can be frustrating, but in the end, you are guiding yourself to true joy. Vanky shared a bit of mindset motivation that really stuck with me. He said, “It is not about winning and losing, it’s about winning and learning.” He states that it is not so much about finding the perfect thing, it is about learning more about yourself. “Know what your strengths and weaknesses are, especially your weaknesses, so that you can work on improving them.”

I love the simplicity of that...know your strengths and weaknesses and be open and willing to learn from them. Do this and you will always be leading yourself toward what you love. Listen to your own wisdom...what feels good? What lights your fire and energizes you...the truth of it may be quite unexpected.

And what about when you DO know what it is that you love? Once you find this truth, how do you move forward, do better, be better, and progress toward your goals and doing what you love everyday?

To answer that, I’ll leave you with a quote from Vanky which I believe can apply to all parts of life. Vanky says, “It’s not about the right aptitude, it is the attitude that matters.” Your attitude is your what attitude do you bring toward your goals and how is that moving you forward?
